Parkside Candy
The University District Community Development Association, Inc. (UDCDA) has been awarded a $125,000 grant through New York State Homes and Community Renewal’s (HCR) Buffalo Main Streets Initiative (BMSI) for the rehabilitation of Parkside Candy located 3208 Main Street, Buffalo, NY. Recently designated as a historic landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Parkside Candy is an anchor in the University Heights Neighborhood and this significant reinvestment into the building will signal a positive turning point for this part of Main Street as well as the larger neighborhood.
Funding through the BMSI will allow the UDCDA to work with owner Philip Buffamonte to restore the two story Parkside Candy building to its former resplendence. Work will include installing new signature exterior signage, new awnings, facade repair, detailed painting and plaster work in the candy shoppe, and rehabilitating two apartments located above the storefront.
Be sure to check back for updates on the project as they become available!
