Celebrating Fall at the Gloria J. Parks After School Program
It seems like the 6-week Gloria J. Parks Summer Camp ended just a few days ago, but as we all know, time flies when we’re having fun! And that is exactly what has been going on with our youth program.
The summer program ended with Glow Up, a celebration of the summer’s activities and the launch of a new Hip Hop Education program featured at Gloria J. Parks. This showcase highlighted camp events, where students created curriculum, preformed and showcased their talents in Graffiti, Dance, Hip Hop, Drama and Urban Art. The Hip Hop Education program will join our quality repertoire of after school programming geared to stimulate intellectual, physical and personal growth.
The fun continued in October with the kick off of the After School program on October 4, 2018. The event included a Tail Gate party where students played flag football against the Gloria J. Parks Staff, followed by a cookout to close out the day. On October 11th, we celebrated International Girls’ Day with a nail polish party and on October 25th, we held the Lights On After School celebration with a glow stick dance party. Lights On After School Celebration aimed to bring awareness of how important after school programming is for school-aged youth.
Last, but not least, the youth program closed out by hosting our annual Haunted House event which, included a Door Decorating and Costume contest. Needless to say, there was plenty of candy and it was a lot of fun!
