Welcome, Nicholas Marino, to the UDCDA Board

Join us in welcoming our newest member, Nicholas Marino, to the UDCDA Board of Directors. We are excited to have a lifetime University District resident and Gloria J. Parks alum joining our Board!

Nick joined our Board in December and brings, literally, a lifetime of experience in the district. Read Nick’s personal statement about his time in the University Heights, at Gloria J. Parks and his current professional and board goals.

To say that my entire life has been spent in the University District would not be an understatement. My mother grew up on Montrose Avenue and my father grew up on Highgate and raised my 5 siblings in the community. I never ventured too far outside of the neighborhood.I went to elementary school at St. Joseph University and I spent almost every day after school at the Gloria J. Parks Community Center playing basketball or participating in whatever athletic program was offered. My first job was at St. Joseph’s Parish. Today I am an associate attorney with Gibson, McAskill & Crosby, LLP. here in Buffalo.

This community has taught me so much and meant so much to me and in my time on the board, I hope to see the neighborhood continue the incredible progress that has been made these last few years. I look forward to overseeing the growth of the UDCDA and seeing the expansion of its community services while also strengthening and supporting the things that it already does so well.

We look forward to the ideas and guidance Nick will bring to the table. Welcome aboard!
