Youth Spoken Word Showcase planned for April 21th

Speaking your mind, from the heart, in a rap, at a slam!

Be there on April 21 at 7 p.m. when the curtain goes up on the Spoken Word Showcase: “All Word and No Play” at Bennett High School, 2885 Main Street, Buffalo. The Showcase is the final act of a free, spoken word workshop series conducted for youth, ages 10-18, at the Gloria J. Parks Community Center, 3242 Main Street, from January 18 through March 30.

“The showcase is a unique opportunity for kids to perform in their own voices, using rhythm, lyrics, and their boundless passion,” according to Mike Tritto. “It will feature youth who participated in the workshops and/or free master classes offered by Buffalo performance poets Benjamin Brindise, Marquis ‘Ten Thousand’ Burton, and Dayatra Hassan.” Tickets are $3.00 at the door or, buy tickets in advance at Gloria J. Parks, 3242 Main. For more information, 716-832-1010.
